The study of administrative burden has provided evidence of the distributional effects that barriers to access to public services and benefits can have on vulnerable population groups. However, little attention has been paid to this field of study in Latin America. We apply a set of statistical models to data from an original 2022 Mexican survey to analyze the relationship between indicators of individuals´ socioeconomic vulnerability and their experience of administrative burdens. We find that women, ethnic minorities, low-income individuals, and individuals with low educational levels spend more time on administrative tasks compared to the general survey population. Thereby, we provide a basis for future studies on the role of barriers to access to public services and benefits in the reproduction of social inequalities, so entrenched in many countries in the region.
