Abstract

For decades, with the signature of various international mechanisms on gender equality, member countries of the United Nations has launched several strategies for the advancement of women, including the design and implementation of affirmative actions. However, even though there has been significant progress in labor, family and social spheres, in some countries, as the case of Mexico, even with the implementation of these actions, the collective imagination remainswith stereotypes of traditional sex-generic identities and inequities. Even though there are various reasons for this, this article works from the perspective which sees the design of affirmative actions for gender equality actions, contributing to the persistence of gender stereotypes through its messages to citizens. This proposal aims to make visible an aspect of the design of public policies for gender equality, propose some debates and lines of action that lead to the design of new public policies that create equitable societies, deconstructing traditional categories, so that, sex-generic biological differences do not remain the reason of social inequality, in this context, from the design of public policies.
