Abstract

The Asian Pacific has become, almost overnight, an area of enormous interest for Chile. Taiwan has been an important piece in Chile's rapprochement with the region, making this economy an important trading partner. The deepening of cooperation is compromised by the diplomatic difficulties posed by the conflict between China and Taiwan. In this essay, in light of these coordinates and the role that Taiwan is playing in the Asia Pacific area, we reflect on the ways that would allow closer ties and what the Chinese system means for a country like Chile.
