Abstract

To present a Pure Theory of wages, i.e., by isolating the efficient causes that provoke them and, at the same time, to deduce logically from observing irrefutable facts of reality, is the aim of the presentwork. Thus, from the prices of final goods, the author explains the formation of wages (labor production factor prices). To refute the mythology that has been built on the ability of coercion (legislative and from labor unions) to generate benefits for employees, intervening the employment contract is another issue addressed by the author. In conclusion, for the author, wages tend spontaneously to be set at a point that coincides with the expected discounted marginal productivity of labor interest on money (the worker is paid what they contribute), and any attempt to alter this Basic economic Law produces counterproductive effects that must be solved by those who advocate the coercive intervention on the working relationships
