Abstract

In the context of the planetary awareness of the climate crisis, political ecology states that we live in the era of the Capitalocene. As a result of the appropriation and excessive consumption of fossil fuels by industries, humanity and ecosystems have been harmed. This makes our existence precarious. In this article I revisit the concept of rebellion of the feminist theorist Julieta Kirkwood to argue that it is the energy of rebelliousness that allows feminisms, as well as all living organisms and species, to activate their metabolism. I will unpack this argument in two sections, first explaining the concept of rebellion defined by Kirkwood and then illustrating how rebellion activates the metabolism of the territorial feminisms embraced in Women from Sacrifice Zones in Resistance (MUZOSARE) and the organization Critical Views of the Territory. I seek to contribute to revitalizing the feminist principles and theory mobilized in the early ‘80s by Julieta Kirkwood.
