Abstract

This article refers to the social concern caused by "venereal disease" within the gender general conditions sustained at the time, when women were subordinated to men's authority and power, being their sexuality assigned to a mere reproductive rol placed within married life only. This is organized in two parts. First, the hegemonic gender situation and the spaces of men and women will be considered. Second, the diverse solutions evaluated by medical doctors -both men and women- in order to control and eliminate the "venereal disease". All of them were linked to the anarchist, socialist and liberal ideas.
